Safety and content policy

AI photo filters are fun, but they work on real faces. This page explains the checks we run on every photo, what we will not make, and what happens when someone breaks the rules. The legal wording is in section 4 of our terms.

The checks every photo goes through

  1. One face, checked in your browser. Before anything is uploaded, the page looks for exactly one face. Group photos and photos with no clear face stop here, and nothing leaves your device.
  2. An automatic safety check on our server. A separate AI model looks at the photo before any image is made. It refuses the photo if the person may be under 18, if there is nudity or sexual content, or if it is not a real photograph of a person. A refused photo never costs a credit.
  3. The image model's own filter. The models we use have built-in safety filters. If one refuses a request, your credit is returned.
  4. A consent box. Before generating, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the photo is yours or that you have the person's permission.

No automatic check is perfect, so the rules below still apply even when a photo gets through.

What we will not make

We block six kinds of content, listed in full in section 4.1 of our terms:

  • Sexual content. Nothing nude or suggestive, and no "undress" requests. Our prompts always ask for a fully clothed, non-sexual result.
  • Violence and gore. No injuries, blood or graphic harm.
  • Hate. Nothing that targets people for who they are, and no hateful symbols.
  • Children. No photos of anyone who is, or looks like, a minor.
  • Fakes of real people. No one else's face without their consent, nothing meant to catfish or deceive, and no celebrities or public figures.
  • Other people's IP. No photos you have no right to use, and no copied characters, logos or brands.

We also do not allow using results to harass, bully or humiliate a real person.

Some of our filters describe an art style by referring to a well-known studio or show. That describes the look only; we are not affiliated with those companies and the results are not official artwork.

Your results are private

  • Results are visible only when you are signed in to your account. There is no public gallery and no sharing feed.
  • The photo you upload is deleted as soon as your image is done. Results are deleted after 30 days, or sooner if you delete them.
  • We do not use your photos or results to train AI.

A note on gender filters

Our gender filters are used by people who are curious, by people making content for fun, and by trans and nonbinary people exploring how they might look. We keep the tone respectful: results keep your real features, never sexualise you, and are never shown to anyone else. Please do not use them to mock anyone's gender or identity.

Reporting a problem

If you see a result from GirlFilter used to harm someone, or a photo of you used without your consent, email support@girlfilter.com. Tell us where you saw it and what is wrong. Please do not attach the image unless we ask.

We aim to handle reports within 48 hours. Depending on what we find, we may delete results, refuse further requests from the account, or suspend it. Suspended accounts are not refunded. When the law requires it, we report child safety concerns to the authorities.
