Anime Genderbend: Turn Your Original Male Character Into a Girl

This is a genderbend, sometimes called nyotaika in Japanese: the same character, redrawn as a woman. The filter makes only the changes that the idea needs.

What changes

• The face. The character gets a clearly feminine face, even if the original design is androgynous.
• Facial hair. Beards and stubble are removed.
• Hair. The hairstyle keeps its colour and may be a little longer.
• Fully clothed. The result is always fully clothed, modest and non-sexualized.

What stays the same

• The art style and proportions (chibi stays chibi), line weight, colouring and shading.
• Hair colour, eye colour, outfit, accessories, pose, framing, background and the apparent age as drawn.
• Scars, tattoos, piercings, glasses and other distinctive marks.

The aim is that anyone who knows your character recognises the genderbend version straight away.

All five styles use the same character and keep the original age feel. Every result is fully clothed, modest and non-sexualized.

• Same style. Keeps your art style, outfit and colours and changes only the gender cues.
• Cute. A soft moe look with a rounder face, pastel colours and a slightly softened outfit, still fully clothed and the same age feel.
• Elegant. A calm, refined and confident look with long flowing hair and a tasteful, polished outfit, fully clothed and modest.
• Cool. A sharp-eyed, tomboy look with short or messy hair and a casual, practical outfit, never sexualized.
• Gothic. A modest, long-sleeved black gothic dress with lace and ribbons, fully clothed and the same age feel.

The genderbend AI has clear limits, and a safety check runs before any image is made.

• Original characters only. Characters you drew yourself, commissioned or generated yourself as your own original design. Characters from existing anime, manga, games, films, cartoons or other franchises are not accepted, and neither is fan art of them.
• No young children. Characters who are clearly young children are refused. Youthful anime faces and art styles such as chibi are fine.
• One male character. Images with several characters, or with a female character, are refused.
• Fully clothed, non-sexual. Nude or sexual artwork is refused, and the result is always fully clothed and modest.
• Drawings, not photos. For a photo of a person, use the girl filter or the gender swap filter.

When an image is refused, you see the reason on screen and no credits are used.

• Show the whole design. A clear picture of the face, hair and outfit gives the AI more to keep.
• Use a clean background. Simple backgrounds stay clean after the redraw.
• Pick one character. Crop group art so only your character is visible.
• Use a sharp image. Blurry or very small artwork loses its fine linework.
• Keep distinctive details visible. Scars, tattoos and accessories are kept only if the AI can see them.

• Writers and roleplayers. See how an alternate version of your own character might look.
• Tabletop and game masters. Make a counterpart for a story, a rival or a sibling.
• Artists. Get a quick reference before you draw your own version by hand.
• Fun. Many people just want to see their character from another side.

Treat the result as an AI interpretation. It is a picture to inspire you, and your own drawing will always be the original.
